K-2 Schoolyard Safaris
 
Signs of the Season

Each season brings a whole new world. We’ll take a walk to look for signs of spring, summer, fall, or winter. How do plants change? What animals do we find this season.

 

Cost: $75 per class/up to 25 children

Tree Trek

Bark and branches, needles and leaves, seeds and fruit – trees have lots of parts! We’ll investigate how trees work, and find out how trees and wildlife help each other.

Fur & Feathers

On this walk, we’ll focus on birds and mammals that live nearby. From squirrels to sparrows, there’s lots of furry or feathered friends around!

Six Legs or Eight We’re going on a safari to find insects and spiders. Take a closer look at critters that crawl, hop, or fly.

3-6 Schoolyard Safaris
 
Diversity Detectives How diverse is your schoolyard? Are there more than squirrels, worms, and crabgrass to be found? We’ll find out as we survey plants, insects, birds, and more.
 

Cost: $125 per class/up to 25 students
Length of program: 90 minutes

 
Habitat Hike If you lived in the schoolyard, what would you eat? Where would you raise a family? How would you hide from predators? We’ll find out what plants and animals call the schoolyard “Home Sweet Home,” and how the habitat changes with the seasons.

Neighborhood Naturalists What is a naturalist? We’ll learn to use the tools and skills of a naturalist in the field – observing, recording, and sketching what we find.
