|

Children will see and touch lots of marine artifacts, including
shells, egg cases, seahorses, and more. We’ll learn about
unique animals that make their home at the Jersey shore. |

a Box |
NJ’s forests are home to all kinds of trees,
plants, insects, and animals. Children will see and touch forest
artifacts, including seeds, galls, nests, and all kinds of tree
parts. We’ll also learn about animals that make the forest
their home, using animal photos and the “big tree.” |

What’s alive and what’s not? What’s
a plant and what’s an animal? With artifacts, masks, photos,
and movements, we’ll explore the world of living things. We’ll

| Find a Fossil |
Where was the first full dinosaur skeleton found? Right
here in NJ, of course! Students get to be paleontologists for a day
as we excavate real fossils from mock rocks, then identify and label
them. |

| Tree-Cycle |
Save the trees – our life depends on it, doesn’t
it? We’ll check out tree parts, what they do, how a tree works,
and why trees and people need each other to survive. Then we’ll
do our part to save some trees by making recycled paper from junk
mail. |

Learn to recognize common NJ birds by sight and sound.
Then we’ll do a seasonally appropriate project to help backyard
birds – cooking calorie-rich “suet” cakes for fall/winter,
or building nesting boxes for spring/summer. |

Cost for “suet” cake cooking: $100 per class + $2
per student (up to 20 children) This activity uses peanuts
or peanut products.
